HODGES, Gregory Michael age 44, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004, as a result of a motorcycle accident. Greg, a lifelong resident of Hamilton was born in Hamilton on July 9, 1960, and was a 1979 graduate of Garfield High School. Greg felt as if his greatest achievement in life was his position in law enforcement. He was devoted police officer for his community an received many awards in the line of duty. Greg was a deputy for 10 years with the Butler County Sheriff Department, was presently employed at Summit Behavior and also was employed part time as a police officer for Ross Township. He as an active member in the FOP Lodge. Officer Hodges took great pride in his work partly because he followed in his father's footsteps. Greg was a caring man with a zest for life. His ability to find humor in everything kept family and friends entertained whenever he was around. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed country music, loved to sing and dance and ride his Harley Davidson. Greg the first born grandchild, was part of a close knit family who loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fellow officers. Survivors include the love of his life, his daughter, Erica Hodges; his loving parents, Lois Ventre and Wendell (Brenda) Hodges; devoted siblings, Tim Hodges, Mary (Pat) Capella with whom he had a special relationship, Jennifer (Steve) Sechrist; beloved grandmother, Mary Theobald; cherished aunts and uncles, Bill (Pauche) Hodges, Barbara Wright, Cheryl (Dennis) Flaig and especially his aunt and very best friend, Pam (Dennis) Kelly; close cousins, Amy and Kelsey Blizzard and Joey Smallwood; nieces, Jennifer and Emily; nephews, Michael, Nick, Cole Tommy, Phillip and Robert; other family members and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eldon Theobald and grandparents, Bertha and Aubrey Hodges. Prayer services will be conducted 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 So. 3rd Street Hamilton. Mass of the Christian Burial, 12 Noon, Tuesday at St. Ann Church. Burial in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Colligan Funeral Home for the Benefit of Gregory M. Hodges or to First Financial Bank, 5300 Pleasant Avenue, Fairfield, Ohio 45014 for the Benefit of Erica Hodges.
