Mrs. O E Baird, Sr. Dies in Houston
Mrs. O E Baird, Sr., 81, died at 7 pm, on New Year's day at the Houston Hospital.
A native of Leaksville, Miss., she was the former Miss Lizzie Jane Breland, daughter of the late Absolom Breland and Rebecca Ann Martin Breland.
Funeral services were conducted from the Houston Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm, Sunday, Jan. 3, with the Rev. Howard Hathorn, pastor of the Houston Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Houston Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Baird, Jerry Cox, Larry Baird, Danny Paul Baird, Keith Jordan and Larry Nichols.
Mrs. Baird was born Feb. 12, 1889. She was a Methodist.
She is survived by her husband, Osma Everette Baird, Sr., of Houston; three daughters, Miss Gladys Baird of Houston, Mrs. Paul G Cox of Aberdeen, and Mrs. Haskell G Jordan of Winfield, West Virginia; three sons, Osma Everette Baird, Jr., and Hubert Baird, both of Houston and Robert L Baird of West Point, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. G C Harrington of Andolusia, Ala., Mrs. Joe E Jenkins of Leaksville, Miss., and Mrs. Alex Draughn of Richton, Miss. Twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
