CLAUDE BANTA, 68, DIES SUDDENLY

Claude Banta, 68, of 655 E. Jackson St., died suddenly at midnight last night. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Banta had suffered from a severe cold for the last few days, but death was unexpected.

Employed at the Shelbyville Desk Co. for the past four years, Mr. Banta moved to this city in 1923 from Lamb, [Switzerland County,] Ind. He was married to Ollie Williams, of Lamb, in 1922. She survives with three children, Doris and Kenneth Banta, at home, and Dale Banta, of Shelbyville. Another son died in infancy.

Also surviving are a granddaughter, one nephew and a sister, Mrs. Mamie Breek [Breeck], of Anderson. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Lamb.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Murphy Mortuary with Rev. Jesse McKeny officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Monday.
