Ruth Neff Stepp, 78, of Alford, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday morning, December 27, 2014, at Jackson County Hospital in Marianna, Florida. Mrs. Stepp is a member of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church in Milton, Florida.

Mrs. Stepp was born on February 26, 1936, in Cotton Center, Texas. Ruth was the youngest of nine children born to Rufus and Lizzy Neff.

Ruth's passion, at each church she had the privilege of serving, was establishing or growing the Media Center/Library. Her love of books, music, tapes and DVDs to educate others gave her great joy. Ruth, her husband, Jack, and her daughter, Sheila, were instrumental in establishing several church libraries from Alaska to Texas to Florida.

Ruth enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and various Bible studies, but most of all, she enjoyed being with her family.

Mrs. Stepp is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Stepp; two sisters, Annalou Stewart and Patsy Humphrey; one son and his wife, J. Darrell and Beverly (Scott) Stepp; their three children, Jennifer Stepp Rader, Allison Stepp and Travis Stepp; grandson-in-law, Shawn Rader; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Baldwin-Stepp; two great-granddaughters, Sheila Marie Grace Rader and Lilia Ann Rader. She is also survived by countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws and very supportive friends.
Mrs. Stepp is preceded in death by her only daughter, Sheila Dianne Stepp; parents, Rufus and Lizzy Neff; brothers, Byron, Hubert and Author; and sisters, Velma, Viola and Virginia.

Mrs. Stepp grew up in Big Spring, Texas, where she met her husband, Jack Stepp, who was stationed at Webb Air Force Base. She also lived in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Florida and Alaska.

Mrs. Stepp loved her family dearly, and spent the past seven years being sole caregiver to her husband, Jack, who suffered a stroke in 2007. Her devotion and care for him was unparalleled. Ruth will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Her charity to others throughout the years benefitted churches, individuals and organizations. She always said, "to those that are given much, we must be willing to give as God directs". Ruth and Jack are exemplary examples of giving back and were always blessed beyond their expectations. To God be the Glory!

Mrs. Stepp's family will receive visitors on from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Hickory Hammock Baptist Church, Milton. A Celebration Service begins at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Carl Gallups officiating; followed by burial at the church cemetery. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements.

Donations to either Samaritans Purse (P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000) or Hickory Hammock Baptist Church Media Center (8351 Hickory Hammock Road, Milton, Florida 32570) would please Ruth greatly.
