Thanks to Cynthia Munkelt for the following bio:
Gloria Jean Cross was a very precious soul. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

The daughter of Esther and Edwin Cross, she was born in Belfast, September 5, 1942.

Because of her limitations, she led a life that at the time was not ideal. When she was seven, it became clear that she needed more help than her family could provide. At that time, she went to live at Pineland, some of the hardest years of her life. She later moved to The Abbot House, a Charlotte White facility located in Abbot, Maine. Those years were the highlights of her life; she made new friends there and created her extended family with the staff who began calling her "Queenie", because that was how they treated her – with amazing care and exceptional treatment – they met Gloria's every request and need. Gloria's world revolved around music which she loved almost as much as pie. Gloria enjoyed celebrating every holiday as a special event.

Over the years, Gloria's cousin and guardian, Elizabeth Keniston and her late husband, Fred of Belfast, and Juanita Bowden and her husband, Stephen of Bucksport, ensured that she was well cared for, and provided gifts for the holidays that Gloria so loved.

A special thanks to the caretakers at The Abbot House, Michelle Marden, Lucy Chambers, Laurie Soule and other special friends, for all the kindness and compassion shown to Gloria during her stay there… we greatly appreciate it. Many funny and light-hearted stories came from the staff that cared for her over the years. We always enjoyed hearing how much they loved her. Also, thank you to the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their excellent care provided during her brief stay there.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 5, 2015, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford with Pastor Reeni Cipullo officiating. Spring burial will be in the Grove Cemetery in Belfast.
