Genevieve Carolyn (Grandma Jenny) Elliott, of Peebles, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014.

She was born at home in Springfield on May 4, 1933, the daughter of the late Clarence Sr. and Lula Irene (Clary) Zile.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Jr. Elliott, who passed away on Dec. 12, 1972; a sister, Doris (Zile) McElwee; and granddaughter, Stacey Renee Elliott.

She is survived by four sons; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, with one more due in January 2015; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Genevieve graduated from Sinking Spring School, retired from Highland District Hospital and later retired from Greene Chiropractic Center in Peebles. She loved caring for others and devoted her life to her family, friends and anyone who needed her. She loved working outdoors from working in the garden to mowing yards. She was a member of the Highland County Chapter of the Eastern Star. She grew up attending the Pisgah United Methodist Church and later pastured there for several years when it was the Pisgah Church. At the time of her passing she was the piano player for the Harriet Independent Church in Harriet. Genevieve dedicated her life to serving the Lord and Savior and has now gained her eternal reward.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon-3 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
