He was born May 5, 1928 in Houstonville, KY, to the late John & Betty Pemberton Reed. His marriage was to Bertha Jean Cox in Delphi, on Feb. 11, 1961, and she survives.
He attended school in Kentucky. He worked for 37 years at the former Peters-Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi, as a supervisor, retiring in 1991. He received many awards for his job duties while there. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church, where he sang the special music, and taught Sunday school, and was also Sunday school superintendent at one time. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and garden. He enjoyed woodworking, and building bird houses for his family and friends. He liked trucks and tractors, plowing driveways in the winter. He dearly loved his wife and children, grand & great grandchildren.
Surviving: wife-Bertha Jean Reed of Delphi; daughters: Teresa J. Jenkins of Monticello, Lisa & Wayne Burkhardt of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, & Sandy & John James of Delphi; son: Alan & Beth Reed of Delphi; brother: Louis Jim Reed of WI. 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren survive.
Preceded in death by 2 sister’s, 3 brother’s.
Services: Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Funeral service there Wednesday 11am, Pastor Lee Howe officiating. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
