Frederika was born in Friedrichsdorf. If she is the Friedrike born in 1853, the area was identified in the birth register as being Rowno (now Riveneska, Ukraine). In 1862 Friedrichsdorf was the second largest German settlement in Volhynia (of 45 known German towns and villages), having 305 German Lutherans. She was married to August Ludwig Milke (name illegible on her death certificate- transcribed as 'Suding'). They were married on May 21 1873 in Roschischtsche, Russia-Poland in Rozyszcze Parish (film # 1895621/1; page 224- register 53). Her husband died sometime after 1891 in Europe (Germany or Russia-Poland). She may have been the daughter (birth name Friedrike) of Friedrich Tiefenbach and Juliana Saak born in 1853 in Friedrichsdorf (also known as Solomka, Rowno, Volhynia Russia-Poland). She appears to be the sister of William Diefenbach. There was also a Friederichsdorf in Russia (near Kaliningrad) that was closer to Vilnius, so this may not be her birth record. William stated that he was born in Vilnius.

She was the mother of the following known children:

1-Wilhelmina Milke Ostroske (1874-bef 1899) first wife of Gustav Ostroske
2-Pauline Milke (Jan 4 1876 Marianka)
3-Christine Milke (June 4 1877 Marianowka)
4-August Gottfried Milke (Sept 18 1878 Marianka)
5-Rosine Gottliebe Milke Kusmaul (Jan 1880 Marianka); immigrated to Philadelphia Feb 8 1901 on the ship Belgenland with her son Christian
6-Friedrich Leopold Milke (March 15 1882 Marianka-1951 Phila)
7-Auguste Milke Klinger (1883-1950)
8-William Milke (abt 1886 - ?)
9-Samuel Milke (1887-1943)
10-Henry Milke (1890-1942)
11-Martin Milke (1892 - 1962)

In 1940 Frederike was living in Caroline County, Maryland with her widowed daughter Rosie Kusmaul (John, born 1868 Russia), her son William Milke, and these first 3 grandchildren (last 2 were on 1910 census):

(1)Christian Kusmaul (abt 1897 Poland-?)
(2)Theodore Kusmaul (abt 1906 PA- ?)
(3)Walter Kusmaul (abt 1912 MD-?)
(4)Albert Kusmaul (abt 1901 PA-?)
(5)Henry Kusmaul (abt 1909 MD-?)

NOTE- Her husband's surname was spelled Mylke and Mielke as well as other variations in Germany and Russia-Poland. His death certificate was transcribed on Ancestry as 'Micile' (it was a cryptic printing of 'Milke'). Her maiden name was spelled Tiefenbach, Tieffenbacher, Diefenbach, Diefenbacher, etc.

[The informant on death certificate was Mrs. Auguste Klinger of Almont.]
