Beloved father and friend, Edward “Ed” Damm, 82, of Kalispell, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at the Whitefish Care and Rehabilitation Center, Whitefish.

Ed was born on April 4, 1932, in Culbertson, Montana. He was a son of Peter and Katherine (Korb) Damm. He was raised and educated in Culbertson where he met his wife Harriett M. (Almond) Damm. In Ed’s final years, he resided with his current companion, Illa Rassmussen.

Ed was in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Upon his discharge, he worked in the Wyoming oil rigs. He and his family settled down in Thermopolis, Wyoming, and then moved to Kalispell in 1966.

He was employed at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Company, afterward owning his own water well drilling business until his retirement. Ed also worked in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, processing seafood at one of the local canneries.

Ed loved to tie flies and took his children fishing quite often in their earlier years. He was also an avid gardener who loved to drive his tractor and plant fruit trees, berry bushes and vines.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine (Korb) Damm; brothers, John Emmanuel, Henry and Fritz; and sisters, Carolyn, Charlotte and Mary Stewart.

He is survived by his seven children, Lois and Mel Peterson of Martin City, Marilyn and Tracy Hall of Hamilton, Sandra Judd of Battleground, Washington, Edna Collins of St. Cloud, Fla., Edward and Kathy Damm of Phelan, California, Lorna Borgen of Peyton, Colorado, and Eugene Damm of Ararat, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; nieces, Evelyn and John Bjorness of Dickinson, North Dakota, and Linda Korb and Nancy Korb, both of Glendive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to until the time of services.
