Mrs. Henry Kensing
Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Kensing, highly respected pioneer of this county, were held, Thursday, April 9, at two o'clock in the afternoon from the family residence at Doss. Interment was made in the Kensing family cemetery. Rev. J. M. Bergner conducted the services, the Doss Lutheran Church Choir sang several songs, a duet also was sung by friends of the deceased.
Mrs. Kensing, nee Catharine Strackbein was born at Fredericksburg November 30, 1853 and died at 5:30 o'clock April 8, 1936 of paralysis which she suffered Sunday a week ago.
She was married March 11, 1876 to Mr. Henry Kensing with whom she celebrated the sixtieth wedding anniversary on March 11 of this year with a family gathering.
This happy union was blessed with six children of whom a son, Frank Kensing, died several years ago.
Surviving him besides her husband are three sons, Alfred, Max and Otto Kensing, two daughters, Mrs Louis Welges and Mrs. Alfred E. Durst, 11 grand children and five great grand children many other relatives and a host of friends.
Three brothers, William, Henry and Philip Strackbein and two sisters, Mrs. Frederick Sauer and Mrs. Jackson Nixon preceded her in death.
