Mabel Marie Amrein was born on January 11, 1925, a daughter of William and Mary (Talley) Amrein in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Glenburn, ND.
On September 18, 1943, Mabel was united in marriage to Roy Hoiland in Sidney, MT. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Glenburn-Wolseth area until 1952, when they moved into Minot. Together they raised their family of nine children. In 1968, Mabel began working at the Minot State University in the Student Union Department; she remained with the college until her retirement in 1994.
Mabel was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Club, all of Minot. She enjoyed dancing, listening to Daniel O’Donnell music, and spending time in the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. She also enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO with her friends. Mabel was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Daughter: Peggy (Ray) Mahle, Sioux Falls, SD; sons Frank (Angie) Hoiland, Renton, WA, Eldon (Janice) Hoiland, Minot, ND, Loren Hoiland, Minot, ND, Roger Hoiland, Baltic, SD; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Judith Dintelman, sons Dorian ‘Ole” Hoiland, Russell Hoiland, and Kenneth Hoiland; Granddaughters Lisa Mahle and Keri Lee Thorson, grandsons Shane Hoiland, and Joshua Hoiland and two brothers Chet and Raymond Amerin.
