∼Funeral For Peter Nelson Held Wed
Dies At The Age of 85 Years.
Lived In Buena Vista Co. Since 1911.
Funeral services for Peter Nelson who died Monday noon following an extended illness was held Wednesday afternoon from the home and from the Danish Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock with Rev. H. Jorgersen officiating. P. M. Jensen sang as a special selection, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Mr. Nelson was laid to rest in the Newell cemetery. Six sons acted as pall bearers.
Peter Nelson was born Nov. 20, 1852 in Fjeldsted, Fyn, Denmark. He came to the U. S. in 1883 and settled at Cd. Bluffs, Iowa. In 1885 he was married to Anna Poulsen, who died the following year, one son Andrew, now living in Elk Horn was born to this union.
In 1888 Mr. Nelson married Sena Smith and in 1911 they moved to Buena Vista County where they have resided since.
Mr. Nelson died at his home in Newell Dec. 20, at the age of 85. He is survived by 8 children. Remaining besides his good wife are: Frank of Hector, Minn, Arthur, Anna, and William of Newell, Elsie of Varina, Albert, John and Dane of Portland, Oregon. Also 24 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and one brother now in Denmark.
