William Elliott Williams was a twin of Augustus "Gush" Williams, who died in 1869 in Dawson County, Georgia. Descendants of both men were told their ancestor was a twin. Descendants of both men were given slightly different dates for their ancestor's birth. Augustus said he was born 30 Dec 1809, and William Elliott Williams said he was born 23 Jan 1810. Since there were no official birth records we have no way of proving the correct date.

William Elliott Williams married three times. His first wife was Nancy Johnston. They married 19 Dec 1832 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Nancy's burial place is unknown. They were parents of 8 known children.

William married second to Harriett Bagwell on 11 May 1859 in Paulding County, Georgia. Harriett's burial place is unknown. They were parents of one daughter, Mary.

William married third to Elizabeth "Betsie" Alexander about Jan 1859. No marriage record has been found. They were parents of 12 known children.
