Malinda Williams Ledbetter and her husband, William Whittington Ledbetter, both died from typhoid fever within 3 weeks of each other in Oct 1843. They left 6 orphaned children under the age of 10 with the youngest only 3 weeks old. The location of the graves of two of their daughters, Sarah Ann Ledbetter and Rhoda Elizabeth Ledbetter Pilgrim, are unknown at this time.

The exact location where they lived in Benton County, Alabama was the NE Quarter of Section Four, Township Thirteen, of Range 11 East, which is in present day Cleburne County. Their homestead was on Terrapin Creek near Borden Springs, Alabama.
