Belinda married Jacob Ritchey on 3 Jun 1851 in Harrison Co., Ohio. The couple had five children together--Samuel Leander "Lee" (b.1853), John R. (b.1857), Homer (b.1864), Margaret "Maggie" A. (b.1868), and an unidentified child who was born and died before 1900.

I found the family in 1860 living in Jewett, Fairview Township, Harrison Co., Ohio. Jacob Ritchey, aged 30, was earning a living as a "pedler" (sic). Belinda, aged 28, was home with their two young sons--Samuel, aged 7, and John, aged 3. Also living with the family was 13-year-old Frederick Nash, his relationship to the family unknown to me.

Shortly before the 1870 Census, the family relocated to Plymouth, Center Township, Marshall Co., Indiana. Belinda, aged 38, was designated as head of household. There with their mother that year were Samuel, aged 17 and working on a farm, John, aged 14, Homer, aged 6, and Maggie, aged 1.

Five years after that census, Belinda's son Samuel married Emma L. Casper on 5 Sep 1875 in Marshall County. They welcomed son Ira in 1876, daughter Dessie in 1878, and son Harry in 1880. I found the five of them in 1880, living with Belinda. Belinda was 48 and head of household. Son Leander (aka Samuel), was 27 and farming, and his wife Emma, aged 25, was home with their three young children--Ira, aged 4, Dessie, aged 2, and Harry, aged 2 months. Also still at home with their mother Belinda were Homer, aged 16, and Margaret, aged 11.

Fast forward to the 1900 Census year. Belinda, aged 68, was still living in Plymouth. She reported that she was a widow, and that she had had five children, three of whom were still living. Sons Samuel and John were still alive, and daughter Belinda was staying with daughter Maggie in 1907, so son Homer appears to have died sometime between 1880 and 1900.

Seven years after that census, Belinda died at age 74.
