Once upon a time, at the doggy factory, they got to the last puppy in line and realized all they had were the spare parts from four different breeds. Knowing this combination would result in something less than beautiful, they gave the little boy an extra dose of joie de vivre to compensate. Even though life would bring him tribulations, he would endure them all without losing his sense of joy and fun.

Monkey was happy-go-lucky, a survivor, a healer, a playful goof with a heart of gold. If Monkey had a theme song, it would have been "Don't Worry, Be Happy". His looks and happy attitude earned him the nickname "The Muppet Dog", sort of like a black version of Sprocket on "Fraggle Rock". Just looking at him made me smile because he was a reminder the best things in life are simple: life itself, love, companionship and, of course, fun.

Due to being a rescue, Monkey's true age will never be known; he was estimated at 2-3 in 2001. He had a long life, he was loved enormously and he was happy, all the things I had wished for him.

Monkey is now reunited with his "brother" Darby so they can play tug-of-war again. Spooky, their feline "sister", will delight in being able to tease both of them, hoping to get them in trouble.
