Richard J. Abler, age 82, Mt. Calvary passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, June 11, 1988 at his home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1906 at Mt. Calvary, son of the late Jacob and Katherine Weber Abler. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Grade School, Mt. Calvary. He also attended the apprentice school for plumbing and heating in Milwaukee and the sheet metal school in Fond du Lac.
He was married to the former Erma Haehn at Mt. Calvary on June 26, 1937. He established the Abler Plumbing and Heating in Mt. Calvary in 1922 and operated it until his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary and a former member of the St. Anthony Society of the Church. He was an honorary member of the Mt. Calvary Fire Department and served as the Fire Chief for 14 years.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary. Father David Matenaer, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
