MARCELLA JEAN COOPER, 88, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Providence Place in Chambersburg, Pa. Born Saturday, June 5, 1926, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew Avey and Mary Edith (McGlaughlin) Avey. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Cooper, in 2004.

She was a member of First Brethren Church in Hagerstown, where she played the piano and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit 42 and the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Company Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters, Aleta M. Jones of Hagerstown and Mary Sue Hartman of Mercersburg, Pa.; sons, William E. Cooper of Smithsburg, Md., and Kerry L. Cooper of Ijamsville, Md.; brother, Warren Avey of Salt Lake City, Utah; stepdaughter, Patricia Supplee of New Holland, Pa.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, David A. Cooper; sister, Arletta A. Gelwicks; and brother, Charles A. Avey.

Memorial services were held at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown; private interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery.
