William E. "Bill" Cooper, 68, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Transitions Healthcare of Sykesville, MD. Born May 14, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late William Theodore Cooper and Marcella Jean (Avey) Cooper.
He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School class of 1968. Bill was employed through the years by Mack Trucks Inc., Pavestone, Cooper's lawn care working with his son, owned and operated, Cooper's Tractor Service and Diversified Earth Works and enjoyed making his Wild Bill's Cider. He was a member of the Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Company and the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Company. Bill is survived by daughter, Joanie Cooper-Gerber and husband Eric, Son, William "Herk" Cooper and wife Stephanie, grandchildren, Nathaniel Cooper Gerber, Owen Emmanuel Gerber, Cole Harrison Cooper and Quinten Sullivan Cooper, sisters, Patricia A. Supplee, Aleta Jones and husband Harry and Mary Sue Hartman and husband Kathy, brother, Kerry Cooper and wife Kathy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susanne Bikle Cooper and brother, David Cooper.

Services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Elder Brian Stoops officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Friday, August 4, 2017 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home.
