Jemima Wells was born March 7, 1807 in Bracken County, Ky.

She married Aaron Huffman Sept. 20, 1827. Living two years in Kentucky they moved to Dobletown Ind. After living there one year they moved to their present home where they lived until the failing health of the husband caused them to leave the farm and move to Acton. After a year of suffering he died Sept. 7, 1875.

After the death of her husband she returned to her farm in Clark Township, living with her son, Jackson, until her death.

Mr. and Mrs. Huffman united with the Baptist Church at Pleasant View in 1840, and she had remained a true and faithful Christian since that time.

Nine children were the result of this union – four sons and five daughters, six of whom are now living: Milton, Abel, Noah and Jackson, Mrs. Martha Bass and Mrs. Clara Maze.

During a lingering illness of one year she showed the patience and love which only a true Christian can show until death relieved her of her suffering on Oct. 23, 1899, at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 16 days. As a faithful wife and affectionate mother her loss will be deeply lamented by her children, 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Acton Baptist church at 10:30 Wednesday, Oct. 25, conducted by Rev. Buchanan, of Indianapolis.

Burial at Pleasant View cemetery.
