Joseph S. Anderson Dead.

Joseph S. Anderson died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.T. Jones, eight miles southwest of Emporia. Mr. Anderson had been in failing health for months, but his condition had been serious for the past four weeks. Joseph S. Anderson was born in Kentucky sixty-five years ago. When a young man he moved to Illinois locating in Springfield where the family lived for a number of years, and where he was later married to Miss Mary E. Finell (sic). Two years after their marriage the Anderson moved to Kansas, and have lived in Lyon County for the past thirty-five years. They lived for a number of years on a farm south of town, and later near Plymouth for about fourteen years.

Mrs. Anderson died about fifteen years ago and since that time Mr. Anderson has lived with his children. He is survived by five children. They are W.A. Anderson, of Springfield, Ill.; Mrs. Mattie Arzburger, of Kansas City; Mrs. Roy Burden, who lives southeast of Emporia; C. Anderson, of Emporia; and Mrs. Jones, with whom he was living at the time of his death. One brother and one sister live in Springfield, Ill., and a brother Chris Tweedy, lives in Emporia.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock from the Cottonwood Church, Rev. J.B. Mackenzie, of Grace M.E. Church, will have charge of the services, and the interment will be made in the Cottonwood Cemetery.
