"Samuel L. Hopkins died Oct. 18, 1909, of pneumonia, after an illness of eleven days at the age of 68 years. He was born in the town of Laurens and had always lived in the vicinity of West Laurens. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Solen E. of Oneonta, Fred H. of Gayalton [sic] [recte Galeton], Penn., Edwin M. of Long Island City; one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Cope of Laurens, and three brothers and one sister, besides a large number of cousins. The funeral was on Wednesday at the Friends church, Rev. Mr. Cook of Morris officiating. Interment at Morris.---West Laurens Correspondent." "Samuel T. Hopkins West Laurens, Oct. 19. – (Special) – Samuel T. Hopkins died Tuesday evening, Oct. 18th, at his home in West Laurens, after a ten days' illness with pneumonia, aged 69 years. The deceased was well known and highly respected and his many friends will be pained to hear of his death. He was born in the town of Laurens and has always lived in this vicinity. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Salem [sic] [recte Solon], of Oneonta, Fred, Paleton [sic] [recte Galeton], Pa., Edwin of Long Island City, and a daughter, Mrs. Andrew Cope, of Laurens; also one sister, Mrs. Springer, of Gilbertsville, and three brothers, David of Gilberts Lake, Oscar, of Laurens, and Stephen, of this place. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the house, and 1 o'clock at the Friends church, Rev. E. D. Cook of Morris officiating, with interment at Morris."
