"Samuel T. Hopkins West Laurens, Oct. 19. – (Special) – Samuel T. Hopkins died Tuesday evening, Oct. 18th, at his home in West Laurens, after a ten days' illness with pneumonia, aged 69 years. The deceased was well known and highly respected and his many friends will be pained to hear of his death. He was born in the town of Laurens and has always lived in this vicinity. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Salem [sic] [recte Solon], of Oneonta, Fred, Paleton [sic] [recte Galeton], Pa., Edwin of Long Island City, and a daughter, Mrs. Andrew Cope, of Laurens; also one sister, Mrs. Springer, of Gilbertsville, and three brothers, David of Gilberts Lake, Oscar, of Laurens, and Stephen, of this place. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the house, and 1 o'clock at the Friends church, Rev. E. D. Cook of Morris officiating, with interment at Morris."
