Isom Alexander Brown was the son of Isom Alexander Brown Sr. b. 1810 in Bedford Co., VA, and Matilda Tindall (Tindell) b. 1816 in AL.

He married on 12 Jan 1865 in Allen Co., KS, Mariah Villette Brown (buried at this cem.); they had the following children: A. B., b. 1866 in MO; Larrah b. bet 1869-70 in MO; Susan Brown b. 1872 in KS; Isom Alexander Brown III b. 19 Mar 1875 in MO; and William F. Brown b. Apr 1879 in MO.
