CONNEAUT — Elizabeth J. “Betty” Dickson, age 88, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2011, at UH-Conneaut Medical Center, Conneaut, Ohio.
She was born March 19, 1923, in Conneaut, the daughter of A.J. and Jessie (Eddy) Bartlett. Betty was a graduate of Rowe High School, class of 1941.
She retired after 25 years as a bus driver for Happy Hearts School in Kingsville, Ohio. She was on the board for Maples and was one of the original starters of the bowling program for Happy Hearts. Betty was known for driving the kids to Columbus for the Special Olympics.
She was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, canning and baking. She was known for her home-made breads and apple pies. But most of all, Betty enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Dickson and Jayne Shaffer, both of Conneaut; two sisters, Maryanne Sikora of Conneaut and Jean Bean of Tampa, Fla.; her brother, Hubert Bartlett of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane Dickson in 2007; son, Daniel Dickson in 2010; son-in-law, Roger Shaffer in 2010; five sisters; and seven brothers.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. David Hines, pastor of Kingsville First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Saturday, at the Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics of Ashtabula County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

CONNEAUT — Elizabeth J. “Betty” Dickson, age 88, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2011, at UH-Conneaut Medical Center, Conneaut, Ohio.
She was born March 19, 1923, in Conneaut, the daughter of A.J. and Jessie (Eddy) Bartlett. Betty was a graduate of Rowe High School, class of 1941.
She retired after 25 years as a bus driver for Happy Hearts School in Kingsville, Ohio. She was on the board for Maples and was one of the original starters of the bowling program for Happy Hearts. Betty was known for driving the kids to Columbus for the Special Olympics.
She was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, canning and baking. She was known for her home-made breads and apple pies. But most of all, Betty enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Dickson and Jayne Shaffer, both of Conneaut; two sisters, Maryanne Sikora of Conneaut and Jean Bean of Tampa, Fla.; her brother, Hubert Bartlett of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane Dickson in 2007; son, Daniel Dickson in 2010; son-in-law, Roger Shaffer in 2010; five sisters; and seven brothers.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. David Hines, pastor of Kingsville First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Saturday, at the Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics of Ashtabula County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
