CONNEAUT — Mary Ann Sikora, age 84, of Conneaut, Ohio, died at her home on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, with her dedicated, loving husband and children at her side.

Born in Conneaut on June 23, 1929, Mary Ann was the daughter of Arthur "Clyde" and Jessie "May" (Eddy) Bartlett.

She met her husband Leonard (at her mother's urging) while he was serving in the United States Army. Her constant letters to him made the time overseas easier and when he returned, he asked her to be his bride. They were married on Dec. 20, 1947, and celebrated 65 years of marriage in December of 2012. During the course of their marriage, Mary Ann and Leonard raised four children together, were blessed with five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the former Inn-Conneaut Health Center before retiring in 1989. Previous to working at Inn-Conneaut, she cared for her mother for ten years in her home, and after retirement, she also cared for her mother-in-law in her home for five years. She fulfilled her calling in life as an excellent caretaker to others many times.

She enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, cake decorating, crocheting, sewing and playing cards. Her talents served as a gift to many through the years.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur "Clyde" and Jessie "May" Bartlett; brothers, Robert Snow, Willis Bartlett, Chuck Bartlett, Stanley Bartlett, Hubert Bartlett, as well as three brothers in infancy; and sisters, Wilma Roberts, Roberta Sterling, Betty Dickson, Nancy Guy, Bernice McGraff and Dorothy McKinley.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Sikora; one daughter, Gloria (Rich) Ferl of Conneaut; and three sons, Michael (Noriko) Sikora of Fayetteville, N.C., David (Tina) Sikora of Conneaut and Jeffrey Sikora of Youngstown, Ohio; and one sister, Jean Bean of Bradenton, Fla.; as well as grandchildren, Tony (Wendy) Sikora, Christine (Andre) Bennett, Sharon (Fadhl) Sikora, Greg (Darcie) Gibbs and Suzanne Kirsch; and great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Joshua, LaKayla, Devin, Ryan, Kyle, Zachary, Mary Lyn and Anthony.

Friends may call at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, from 3 to 6 p.m., TODAY, Tuesday, Oct. 1st.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Parish/ St. Mary's Worship Site, 480 State St., Conneaut, at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, with the Rev. Phillip Miller presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve for their dedicated service during Mary Ann's illness.
