Oakland Street Engineer Dead
"Stricken ill while returning from work at Diamond Canyon yesterday with other city workers, Anthony White Dozier Sr., engineer in the Oakland Street Department, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Merritt Hospital. Edwin K. Tasker, driver of the automobile in which Dozier was returning from a sanitary sewer survey, saw him slump over while they were riding along Moss Avenue. Attempts to revive Dozier at the hospital proved of no avail. Physicians pronounced him dead of natural causes.
Born in Solano County 66 years ago, Dozier attended Oakland High School, was graduated from the University of California, class of 1896. He joined the city street department in 1926, and was employed as chief of a field staff. He had previously worked as a surveyor for the Southern Pacific Company and a real estate firm in Santa Barbara and had been city engineer of Santa Barbara for three years."
