She had three older sisters, Mary Estelle (1875-1915), Emma Reets (1879-1879), and Helen Mary (1882-1966). Winifred had one younger brother that would be born two years after her birth. Winnifred was baptized on March 29 of 1885 when she was not quite a year old. Her father and mother both belonged to the Episcopal Church and had Winnifred baptized when she was seven months old, at St. Stephens Episcopal church in Harrisburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

Sometime between 1886 and 1900, the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota as the 1900 census shows Winnifred living there at 16 years of age with her father, Hezekiah, her mother. Fannie, her sisters Mary and Helen and her brothers Edward and James. She was also living with her grandmother Martha and two servants and a coachman. The family lived at 659 Summit Avenue in 1900.

Their marriage produced two children, Samuel M Hays (1909-1975) and Jane Holbert Hays (1911-1923). Her daughter Jane died when she was only 12 years old and is buried in Pasedena, California. Winnifred may have moved out to California and been living there at the time of her daughters death. The 1910 and 1920 census both show Winnifred living in Allison, Jefferson, Kentucky. Sometime after 1920, Winifred divorced Samuel.

Her husband, Richmond died in 1936 and for an unknown reason, Winnifred and her son, Richard moved out of the house on Summit. Sadly, this house was torn down in 1937.

The 1940 Census, shows Winifred living in St. Paul, MN. Winnifred and Warner had a son together named Richard B. Warner. Winnifred and her son, Richard are living together at 900 Holly Avenue in St. Paul, MN in 1940.
