Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Barnes of Medina will be held at 10 A. M. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Hopewell Cemetery near Medina with Bro. John Brazee officiating.
Mrs. Barnes, 89, passed away peacefully in Jackson on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gibson County to the late Jim and Dulcie Cotton Spencer. Evelyn graduated from Medina High School, "Class of 1950". She was married to the late Billy Barnes who passed away in 1972 at age 40.
Mrs. Evelyn owned and operated an insurance business most of her life. She was Medina City Recorder for many years. She served faithfully as pianist, organist, and choir member, for over 60 years at Medina First Baptist Church. She also worked with Medina's American Cancer Society Unit. Evelyn loved her family and the church dearly and will truly be missed.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Bluford and J. B. Spencer; and sisters, Louise Luffman and Betty Jo Replogle.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Jimmy) Wilson, and Lori (Herb) Owrey; brother, Tera (Peggy) Spencer; sister, Cornelia Cagle; grandchildren, Kristin (Tyler) Lay, Evan Owrey, Lisa (Allison) Wilson, Jill (Brian) Wolfe, J. R. (L. A.) Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kelli Lay, Jen (Dustin) Cooper, Juliana Wolfe, James Wilson, William Wilson, Shoaf Williams; and great-great-grandchild, Rocky Cooper.
Pallbearers to serve are: Alan Bradbury, Bubba Parrett, Paul Spencer, Bruce Replogle, Tommy Cagle, and Michael Murphree.
