Services for Mrs. Engel (Marie) Van Steenis, 85, lifetime resident of Pella, were Saturday, Nov. 7, at Garden Chapel with the Rev. Henry J. Vermeer and the Rev. Richard A. De Jong officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.
She died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1970, at the Pella Community Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1885, in Marion County, the daughter of Nelis De Reus and Frances van Hoeve.
She married Engel Van Steenis on March 3, 1914. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Pella.
Mrs. Van Steenis was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Survivors include: her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Norma) Simons, Leighton; two sons, Raymond C. Van Steenis, Route 3, Pella; and Merle W. Van Steenis, Route 2, Pella; three sisters, Mrs. Bert (Nell) Olivier, Pipestone, Minn., Mrs. Jacob (Barbara) Van Dyke, Forth Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Elizabeth Stek, 615 University St., one brother, Arie De Reus, Pella; nine grandchildren; and non great-grandchildren.
