Gladys' parents divorced. Her mother passed a year later and her father remarried in 1904 to Mary Odham who passed in 1925. Her paternal siblings who were orpaned in 1925 all went to the Oxford Masonic Orphange and each were released when they turned 18. The last, Charles, in 1936. No one stepped up to care for these children, not even the married half-siblings that were raised with them:
