This is James Gilbert, the son of Thomas Gilbert and Margaret Green. He was born in Wolf Creek, Lawrence, Tennessee and died in Joseph, Sevier, Utah. He was first married to Mary Elizabeth Goates on September 13, 1857 in Lawrenceberg, Lawrence, Tennessee. They had 3 children:

John Wesley Gilbert
Louisa Jane Gilbert
James Phillip Gilbert

After she died on November 18, 1875 in Tennessee, he married Rhoda Emeline Stewart on March 5, 1878 in Giles, Tennessee. Both James and his brother, Thomas Jefferson Gilbert,then moved their families to Utah.
