Mrs. Ada Cotton Mathes, 71, a lifelong resident of Wamego, died Saturday in Eureka, KS. while caring for an aged couple there. She was a daughter of Horatio T. "Rash" Alsip and Maggie Bell Witter. She married (1) Mr. Thomas and had a daughter Ethel Thomas, born 1903. Ada then married (2) Hugh L. Ballentine and had children Russell Ballentine, 1914, and Vivian Ballentine, 1916. Ada married (3) Mr. Hudson and had a son Jean Hudson, 1925. Ada married (4) William Cotton. Her (5) husband was Mr. Mathes. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ethyl Johnson of Northridge, CA., and Mrs. Vivian Platz of Alma; two sons Russell Ballentine of Onaga and Jean Hudson of Wamego, one brother, George Alsip of Borger, TX; One Aunt Mrs. O. T. Baker of Denver, CO.; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
