A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles John Duffy (1892–1949) and Elizabeth Carlton Duffy (1901–1971); wife of the late Oliver Tedy Baird (1922–2003).
A member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the St. Teresa Circle, and a former Republican National Committeewoman.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Baird Bagnal (Richard); sons, Dane Baird (Joella), Charles Baird (Polly), and Michael Baird (Eileen); brother, Roger Francis Duffy (1925-2007: sisters-in-law, Dorothy Duffy and Susan Duffy; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Also predeceased by a brother, Charles John Duffy, Jr. (1938-1992); and a sister, Margaret "Margie" Duffy Fatkin (1921-1998).
Visitation was held 7:00-9:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, with Rosary at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 17, 2006, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church conducted by the Rev. James M. Crowley. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to Lutheran Hospice, P.O. Box 1353, 218-A Trade Street, Greer, SC 29651.
