Frank Akers Sr., 87, a retired livestock dealer, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 10, 1988) in his home in Bowen.
Mr. Akers was born Jan. 1, 1902, in Christianburg, Va., a son of James Kemper and Docia Bishop Akers. He married Ethyl Belknap on Feb. 6, 1930, in Bowen. She died Oct. 7, 1987.
Mr. Akers, who for many years ran his own livestock operation, was a member of the Denver Christian Church.
He is survived by four sons, Frank Jr. of West Point, Bill of Plymouth, Donald of Hamilton, and Terry of Chicago; and three daughters, Mrs. Mike (Mary) Cludray of Plymouth, Mrs. Don (Kay) Webster of Rushville, and Mrs. Garry (Janet) Wear of Loraine; one brother, Glenn Akers of Rushville, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Akers was also preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta by the Rev. Terry Rankin. Burial will be in the Bowen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chili Library in Bowen.
