James S. Slattery
KAUKAUNA | James S. Slattery, 79, Kaukauna, formerly of Green Bay, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna.
Jim was born on June 11, 1935, in Columbus, Wis., to the late Sylvester and Anna (Doherty) Slattery. He graduated with the class of 1953 at Columbus High School, then went on to earn his associate of business degree at Madison Business College in 1955. Jim proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army for 19 years, retiring in April 2000. He served active duty with the 890th Transportation Company during Operation Desert Storm. Jim was an avid Packers fan, and was faithful to his Irish heritage as a member of the Northeast Wisconsin Shamrock Club for many years. Jim was also an active member at St. Willebrord Parish where he served as a lector for many years.
He is survived by nieces, nephews and their families, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his long time special friend, Rosemary Kehoe of Green Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathleen (Sylvester) Tiedt and Marguerite (Jack) Crombie; and brother, Donald (Genevieve) Slattery.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Doylestown, Wis. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. to the time of the service. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you the staff at St. Paul Home and St. Paul Hospice for their loving care of Jim.
