DOYLESTOWN/COLUMBUS—Donald P. Slattery age 88 died on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Columbus Community Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1925 in Columbus to Sylvester and Anna (Doherty) Slattery. Donald was a graduate of Rio High School. He was employed as an accountant at Rayovac Corp. in Madison for many years and later retired as a State of Wisconsin employee. Donald was married to Genevieve Cass on September 24, 1983 in Doylestown. Together, they enjoyed many day-trips to visit family and friends. Donald was a past board member of the village of Doylestown. He also served as trustee at St. Patrick's parish for over 30 years where he was a longtime member. Donald was a member and past officer of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Doylestown. He was current member and officer of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Donald was the former Doylestown reporter for the Rio and Columbus Journals. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Sun Prairie; one brother, James Slattery of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathleen Tiedt and Marguerite Crombie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, Doylestown. Rev. Steve Kortendick will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church.
