Franklin D. “Frank” Withrow, 81, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
Frank was born on February 27, 1933, in Heizer Creek, WV to Winford and Gustava (Hedrick) Withrow. A man with a hard work ethic, he ended his schooling early to help care and provide for his mother and younger siblings. That work ethic continued throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from AK Steel after 35 years of employment. Also, Frank was a courier for MOESC approximately 22 years. He was an active member of Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church, where he was an usher. He loved his church. Frank loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lina Mae (Stewart) Withrow; five children, Cindy (Steve) Thoman, Sheri (Larry) Shick, Joyce (Steve) Gerberick, Diana Jane Withrow, and David (Randi-Jo) Withrow, all of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, Steve Thoman, Chris Thoman, Jeremy Thoman, Jason Sowards, Brandi Walker, Ryan Sowards, Trish Trubachik, Cierra Withrow, and Allie Stimens; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carvin Withrow of WV, and Herbert (Beth) Withrow of MS; three sisters, Wanda King of Mansfield, Shelby (Dr. Ron) Wines of IN, and Linda (Joe) Milbee of WV, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Woodrow “Woody” Withrow; and three sisters, Sylvia Thornton, Mary Ellen Bourff, and Helen Burson.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E). Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church, 998 Laver Rd, will be the setting for funeral services at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 with calling hours starting at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mark Bailey will be officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery, with Military Honors being performed by the RC Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
