Believed to have suffered a heart attack, John Jess, 67, died suddenly Sunday morning at his residence, Ste. 16, Louise Block.
Born in Maybole, Ayreshire, Scotland, he came to Canada in 1915, and was employed with the city works department until 1932, when he took up farming in the Carstairs district.
In 1936 he returned to Calgary, and for the past two years had been caretaker of the Louise block. He was a member of the South Calgary United church.
Surviving are his widow, Jean, Calgary; two daughters, Mrs. A. Emslie, Brooks; Mrs. James Jess, Calgary; a son, James J., Calgary; a sister, Mrs. T. Houston; and two brothers, Andrew and David, all of Scotland; four grandchildren.
Rev. T. Melvin Dobson will conduct funeral services at Jacques chapel Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in Burnsland cemetery.
