Passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 10, 2006 at Lakeview Continuing Care Center, Lawton. Victor was born March 2, 1919 in Copper City, Michigan the son of the late George and Justina (Chopp) Paynich. Victor moved to Paw Paw in 1924 and lived at the Almena Paynich farm until 1952. He worked in Kalamazoo at Sealtest and later at Bond Supply Company. He started work at Tuttle Floral Company in 1953 where he delivered flowers and helped in the greenhouse operation. He worked there until his retirement in 1983. After retirement he still enjoyed working part time delivering flowers to his many friends and customers totaling over 50 years. Victor loved to bowl and play horseshoes with his buddies from the Paw Paw and Almena area. He was a 1938 graduate of Paw Paw High School and enjoyed the monthly luncheon outings with men from his and other Paw Paw graduating classes. Victor was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw for over 80 years where he was an usher. Victor was a devote Christian who cared deeply for his wife, children, their families and his many many friends. On August 16, 1952 in Paw Paw, Victor was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hindenach who preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2005. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, George, Paul and Walter Paynich and a sister, Dr. Mary Louis Paynich. Surviving are 2 sons, Christopher Paynich & Fiancée Janice Haan of Paw Paw, Mike (Susy) Paynich of Mattawan; 2 daughters, Heidi Paynich of Paw Paw and Wendy (Doug) Wendell of Paw Paw; 4 granddaughters, Caitlin, Mallory & Erin Paynich & Shanna (Fiancée Jim Kerr) Wendell; grandson, Shaun Wendell of Paw Paw; 2 great granddaughters, Ashleigh and Sarah; great grandson, Tyler; 3 sisters, Ronnie DeBack of Kalamazoo, Tina Rohrsted of North Carolina and Anne Kean of Fenton, MI; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home Paw Paw where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County.
