TANOMA -- A 72-year-old Clymer RD 1 man was found dead at 7 p.m. Monday at Ruffner's Cemetery at Tanoma. He was identified as William Mears.
State police say Mr. Mears was working on a former church building being converted into a cemetery association facility and had been working on the comb of the roof from a 35 foot ladder.
In some manner he fell, landing on a concrete slab. Indiana Deputy Coroner Christopher Dill listed the case of death as a fractured skull, broken neck and chest injuries. He pronounced the elderly man dead at 7:43 p.m.
Police say the mishap occurred between 1:30 and 7 p.m. when the man's body was found by friends after his wife reported him missing.
The structure was being converted for use by the cemetery where graveside services could be held inside during inclement weather.
