s/o John & Ruth Gordon. h/o Elizabeth (Posey) (Jarrett) Gordon, m. abt. 1770.

Children: 1)William, Jr.*, 2)John, 3)Posey, 4)Cassandra.

William served as Captain in Col. Brandon's 2nd Spartan Regiment.

In 1778 after the death of his brothers John, Jr., William Gordon, planter, purchased from his brothers Thomas Gordon 300 acres of land that had belonged to John Gordon., Jr. deceased. Thomas Gordon being heir at law of John Gordon, Jr. This land joined the Gordon home place where Ruth Gordon Anderson, mother of William Gordon was living in 1773 With her two youngest sons, Govin/Gavin and George Gordon.

William Gordon will states:
"Give to my son William Gordon 150 acres of land part of a 200 acre tract known by the name of Ford Survey.

Give to my son John Gordon 150 acres joining George Gordon's line part of a tract where I now live, running up and down the river (In 1790 John's sell this land "lying in the counties of Newberry and Union leading from Anderson's Ford on Enoree to Hill's Ford on Tyger Rivers).

Give to my son Posey Gordon 150 acres joining the other part of the same tract I now live on.

Give to my daughter Cassey Gordon the plantation where I now live, the remainder of my land with 50 acres joining part of the Ford's Survey."

It is possible that Philip Aubrey/Awbrey married Elizabeth Gordon, widow of William Gordon before 1791.

* I do not have proof that the William Edward attached as a child is in fact the correct William. Still need DNA proof.
