Bette was born on april 10, 1923 to Ernest and Ethel Cribb in Georgetown, South Carolina. This "Southern Belle" moved with "the love of her life" to Kelliher, Minnesota, where they owned and operated the Kelliher Hotel and Telephone Company. Bette's entire family soon followed, filling eight of the ten rooms and leaving only two to rent. After the arrival of their four daughters and moves to Bemidji and St. Paul, they retired in 1980 to their dream home, "The Norseman", on the south shore of Upper Red Lake.
Thanksgiving week of 2005, they moved to Northern Pines Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck. for the last year, they and their daughters have been giving thanks for Northern Pines and the loving, caring family they have found there. The staff, "family" at Northern Pines filled Bette's last year with lots of love, hugs, compassion and the knowledge that Roy, "Her Norseman", will be loved and cared for the way she would want. Her last days were filled with much love, laughter, and singing.
Bette is survived by her husband, Roy; four daughters and sons-in-law, Bette Anne (Duane) Ausmus, Valerie (Dharbinder) Bamrah, Joy (Tom) Olson and Gayle (Mike) McGrane; sisters, Mary Ethelyn Laporte and Margaret Rise; dear friends Roger and Marge Anderson; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ernest Cribb Jr. and Edwin Cribb, and a grandson, Bryn Olson.
