1916 Saskatchewan census finds James Henry McCurdy, 18, born in Ontario, and living in the Saskatoon district with his parents, James, 62, and Catherine, 50, along with siblings: John, 24, Frank, 17, David, 13, and Helen, 9. Also living them was a grandson and granddaughter of his parents, James and Mary Backus, ages 3 and 1.

Requiem mass was celebrated today at 1 p.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral for James McCurdy, 57 [sic], of the Oxford hotel, who died Saturday in General hospital. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. McCurdy was born in Elmwood, Ont. and came to Calgary five years ago. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Catherine McCurdy; three brothers, David and John in Saskatchewan; Frank of Hamilton; one sister, Mrs. Helen Foy of Winnipeg.
