The Oklahoman, March 16, 2005:
Frederick Bertrand Ringwald, a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away March 14, 2005. Fred, also known by those closest to him as "Poppy" was born in St Louis, MO on June 19, 1910 to Edna and Alfred Ringwald.

He graduated from East St Louis High School and attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and graduated with a Business Administration degree from Washington University, St Louis, MO. He served his country during World War II as a captain in the 415th Night Fighters Squadron in the European Theater as an intelligence staff officer.

Fred married Earlene Horn on Aug 30, 1947. They moved from St Louis to Oklahoma City in 1953 where he became of the United States Plywood Corporation until his retirement in 1975. Poppy was blessed with three wonderful children. His family was his life. He enjoyed coaching, carpooling and caring for them. He also enjoyed sports, gardening, fishing and special times with the family.

He is loved and survived by his wife of 58 years, Earlene; son, Fred C. Ringwald and wife Margaret of OKC; daughters, Judy Ringwald Seiley and her husband Phillip of Enon, OH; Robin Ringwald Leonhardt and her husband Phil of Edmond; and granddaughter, Erica Blaschke Zolner and her husband Derek of Chicago, IL; Lisa Ringwald Kloberdanz and her husband Paul of OKC; Phillip, Callie, Carl and Peter Seiley of Enon, OH; and Kyle Leasure of Edmond.

Poppy will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love of life. Poppy had a special place in his heart for his wonderful and loving caregivers, Lora Haley, Tricia Haley and Angela Cartwright. The family extends a special thank you to each one of them.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 11 am in Hahn-Cook, Street & Draper Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
