Mary Elizabeth Alexander, 96, Iberia, died Nov 6, 1999, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born May 28, 1903, in Hawkeye, a daughter of Thomas and Martha (Shelton) Duncan. She was married June 5, 1945, in Rolla, to Barney Alexander, who died Jan 14, 1982.

She attended Drury College, Springfield. She taught at Brown and Barton Schools near Iberia. She worked for Montgomery Ward in Kansas City and Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. She was a member of Iberia Church of Christ.

Survivors include: three sisters, Edith Willis, Iberia, Hazel Schulte, Eldon, and Nellie Ponder, Iberia.

Services will be at 11 1.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Charles Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, near Dixon. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to the Freedom Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
