Nadine Farr Rasmussen
1923 - 2014

Early Life: Nadine was born on November 20, 1923, in Tucson, Arizona, to Heber Erastus Farr and Hilda Bluth Farr. She was second youngest of the twenty-three children of Heber Farr. She had ten brothers and sisters; in addition, twelve half brothers and sisters from Heber's first wife, Elizabeth. Of her numerous siblings, she is survived by only two sisters. From Tucson, her family moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah; later, to Provo, where Nadine lived most of her life. It was at Provo High School, as a cheerleader, that she met her future husband, Lloyd Rasmussen.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: As the family story goes, Lloyd, a basketball star for the rival B.Y. High School Wildcats, was dribbling near the sideline where Nadine, the P.H.S. cheerleader, stepped inbounds and accidentally tripped him. As they both tell the story, that's where Lloyd first "fell for her," and they were in love ever since. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 23, 1943. After Lloyd's military service, they made their home in Provo, living among many of the same neighborhood friends for over 60 years. Lloyd and Nadine are the parents of four children: Susan Green, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Meridee Williams (Lind), Provo, Utah; Garth L. Rasmussen (Kathy), San Jose, California; and Shaun F. Rasmussen (Susan), Eldorado Hills, California. They have 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was a skilled cook, seamstress and homemaker. Always caring and capable, she could make curtains for her home or rescue a wedding dress mishap at the last minute. She loved family get-togethers and reunions. She was an organizer and ensured that gatherings with Farr and Rasmussen cousins, aunts and uncles, were happy and memorable. Her home was always the fun place to be at Christmas, Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July; not only for her children and grandchildren, but usually with many other invitees included as part of the family. Her holiday traditions will be passed on for generations, although her delicious potato salad recipe will never be replicated and will go with her into the next world. What a great "Farr Family Reunion" that will be. Her life demonstrated that memories and traditions are built from love and togetherness. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived a beautiful life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nadine was always active and involved. She faithfully fulfilled numerous ward and stake leadership callings. She and her husband, Lloyd, served in the London England South Mission and have served as temple workers in the Provo Utah Temple. Nadine led an exemplary life, full of kindness, generosity, and service to her family, her neighbors, and the Church. She had a knack for making everyone her friend and making friends feel like family. Nadine Farr Rasmussen passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, Meridee Williams, in Provo, Utah, on August 19, 2014, where she has resided for the past month. For the three and a half years prior, she had been living under the loving care of her son and daughter-in-law, Garth and Kathy Rasmussen, in Henderson, Nevada. Nadine was 90 years old.
