Warren E. Bacon, of 2003 E. Edwards St., died at 6 a.m. yesterday in Huber Memorial hospital, Pana, where he had been a medical patient for a week.

Mr. Bacon, 60, had been ill for the last year.

He was born May 8, 1896 in Selbytown [editor note: possibly Selby Township, Bureau County, Illinois?], and came to Springfield in 1917.

For 44 years, he was employed by the Peabody Coal Co.

He was a member of Central Lodge 71, A.F.&A.M., Springfield Consistory, Flower City chapter, O.E.S., and Pana local, U.M.W.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel; three sons, Harry and Leonard, both of Springfield and Herbert, Pana; two daughters, Mrs. Alma Burroughs, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Melba Snodgrass, Springfield; four sisters, Mrs. Maude Palmer, Mrs. Effie Boner and Mrs. Viola Wertz, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Elizabeth Eadie, West Frankfort; two brothers, William, Kincaid, and George, Springfield; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The body was taken to Kirlin & Egan funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Raymond Peters will officiate.

Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
