Elmore Preston Underwood Jr was the son of Elmore Preston 'Mode' Underwood and Eveline Belcher.

He married Julia 'Julie' Boone Kennedy on July 4, 1903 in Tokie, Pike Co, Arkansas about a month and a half before his brother John Morgan Underwood married Julia's sister Mary Louena 'Lou' Kennedy. I was told that "those Kennedy sisters just had to have those Underwood boys".

He and Julia raised their family in Hopkins County, Texas. He was the only member of his immediate family who was totally illiterate.

My mother-in-law and I have walked this cemetery numerous times, and there is no gravestone for him.

On the death certificate - all dates except the burial is 1923, but filing date is in Apr 1923 BEFORE 1923 DOD. Most likely 1922 DOD is correct.
