Grace Bolton was born on May 7, 1892 in Bangor, Maine to Walter S. Bolton and Louise Baker Bolton. She was the youngest of five children, Fred, Mabel Louise, Dorothy and Louis. Grace was an assistant in the Bangor Public Library from 1911 to 1914 when she became the children's librarian. In 1917, Grace moved to San Francisco, California where she was a librarian. She died of meningitis on April 22, 1921 in San Francisco.
