She bore 12 children; 3 died in infancy, 2 died during childhood, and 7 survived. Her obituary accounts for 6 of the surviving children. Other names taken from census data are: John, Martha, and Anton.

Excerpted from the local newspaper of June 21, 1906:
Mrs. Clara Philipp died at her home in this citv on Saturday evening of infirmities due to old age. She was born in Aschaffenburger, Bavaria, August 32, 1833 and came to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1836, where she married Anton Philipp in 1851. They came to New Prague,Minn., on May 16, 1855, and settled on a homestead on which a large part of the flourishing City of New Prague is located, and were its first settlers. Her husband was born in the same place she was and was 13 years her senior. He took part in the defense of New Ulm at [unclear] of the Indian Massacre. He died in 1888. She was a good Christian and led a life devoted to her family and the building up of her holy religion,and was consoled by its last rites. She leaves to mourn her demise three sons and three daughters, viz: Matthew Philipp, of Novata, Cal.; Mary (Sister Vincentia O.S.B.) of Browerville, Minn.; Frank Philipp, of this city; Lizzie (Sister Hedwig, O.S.F.), of Milwaukee; Henry Philipp, of Minneapolis; Miss Margaret Philipp of this city. Rose (Sister Scholastica O.S.F.) died in 1900 in Milwaukee, Wis.
